What if you could make someone’s day better simply with a few words?
Would you say them? What if you could ease someone else’s suffering, comfort them, and strengthen their faith just by talking to someone else about them?
Would you talk to that person about them? Want to know why we don’t pray more for other people? We don’t really believe it makes that big a difference. But, what if it did?
What if we have this amazing power to change people’s lives – and we’re just not using it… because we don’t really believe that we can?
The truth is we can’t change anyone. But God can. And Jesus promises us that if we ask him to do these things, then he will do them: “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it (John 14:13-14).”
Like any good parent, our Father doesn’t do things that are not best just because we ask him to do them. But he deeply knows and understands the intentions of our hearts and answers our requests in the best way possible.
Let God’s Word give you a glimpse of the power you have to make a difference, just by sitting at home and redeeming the extra time you’ve got these days...
"Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. 13 I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis (Colossians 4:12-13 NIV).”
"He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many (2 Corinthians 1:10-11 NIV).”
"I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me (Romans 15:30 NIV).”
What if we could make that big a difference in people’s lives? And in our world? We can… through simple, honest and believing prayer.
Let’s redeem the extra time we’ve got at home these days and be prayer warriors like Epaphras, who made a difference in their world because they believed they could.
Love,
Jeff
